Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO)
Dental Health Maintenance Organizations (DHMO) provide a low out of pocket cost to employees while offering comprehensive dental coverage. Referrals for specialty care are required in a DHMO Plan.
Employees must select a Primary Care Dentist (PCD) to manage all their dental care and treatment.
Employees are restricted to the In-Network selection of providers.
The best advantage to a DHMO is there are usually no annual limit maximums to the services provided.
Dental Preferred Provider Organization (PPO):
Dental Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) allow employees to choose their own dentists. No referrals for specialty care are required in a PPO plan.
Carriers offer Dental PPO provider networks giving members the advantage of seeking In-Network care to minimize their out of pocket costs and maximize their benefits.
Members have the option to seek Out of Network care from non-participating providers, which has a higher out of pocket costs.
Annual payment maximums and patient coinsurance apply to DPPO Plans.
